It's that simple. The body is designed to move. When working optimally, its system-wide interconnections create a stunning dance of dynamic alignment, vigor and endurance. However, our sedentary modern existence tends to limit this potential. Long hours spent sitting and busy lives that lack a sufficient amount of physical activity can contribute to a laundry list of health issues. Regular exercise is one of the single-most important things you can do for your well being. With its integrative, functional approach, Pilates is one of the best fitness systems out there to keep you conditioned for whatever life activities you love.

At Soma, we advocate wellness and use the yardsticks of health, strength, agility and physical performance to measure results. We focus on feeling good by fortifying the physique and rejuvenating the spirit. We work hard to realize our physical vitality within a community of positive body consciousness.

Uniquely You
Each person is different and each body is organized in its own unique way. Posture, lifestyle, injuries and degenerative changes: all of these leave their mark -- like little fingerprints in your movements. We work together to design a program that addresses these individual patterns, but we keep the focus on your body's potential instead of its constraints. The Pilates exercises can be modified to accommodate most limitations, while still providing a good physical challenge. This enables you to tap in to strength and power through a safe, intelligent and vigorous workout.

Classical Foundations, Progressive Approach
My training and my personal practice are deeply rooted in the full, classical repertoire. My teaching is also informed by current, peer-reviewed research in physiotherapy, exercise science and other movement and bodywork techniques. I am particularly interested in the science of the mind-body connection as well as with the relationship between physical activity and healthy aging.
